Community Halls

The following images depict the interiors of a series of community halls around East Devon, England.

Over the past 100 years or more these quirky old buildings, full of personality and atmosphere have witnessed many human interactions and served as cherished and valued spaces for village dwellers.

However, as more people commute to the city to work and socialise it seems we may be on the brink of losing one of the last fragmented pieces of our struggling countryside communities. I decided to visit a selection of these halls and create a series of images that celebrates not only their individuality but also the structural continuity.
